EMPIRE
The Empire is a cross of McIntosh and Red
Delicious. It was crossed in 1965 at New York State Ag Experiment Station in Geneva, New York. Some claim that the Empire's flavor, like fine wine, improves during storage. It combines the mild tartness of a McIntosh with the full-flavored Red Delicious. It is excellent for eating and fair for cooking.
