MUTSU (CRISPIN)

The Mutsu is a cross between the Golden Delicious and the Japanese Indu.  It was named Mutsu in 1949, and later in 1968, is was renamed the Crispin.  In Michigan it is still widely known as the Mutsu.  The Mutsu arrives late in the harvest season.  It is typically greenish on the outside and creamy white on the inside with firm-textured juicy flesh.  It is an excellent all-purpose apple and a good keeper.
